I put down the phone, tears welling up in my eyes,

Everything so far now just seems like one big lie,

I look at the mirror; I look at my visage,

In the past few weeks, it looks like I’ve aged,

Falling on my bed, curling up in my sheets,

Thinking back to times when two people meet,

You took your half and asked if you could leave,

I took my half and now I grieve,

Why I held on for so long I’ll never quite understand,

But now I know I’ve taken a stand,

Moving on, I will tread paths unknown,

Because the ones I’ve tread on for so long are now gone,

One day I might hear your name and smile,

Just for the sake of old times,

Because there are some faces that I can never forget,

And some choices that I will always regret.
